Soul Resonance is the third pre-studio compilation following Other Ways of Seeing, of soul and blues songs written in 2012 and 2013. It includes Take Me to the Underground in Rendina's reluctance to formally release a record and continue to host and perform at underground shows, his Interlude used as a vamp for improvisation, the Beyonce-meets-Yellow Magic Orchestra Dragon Kites and disco funk ...and On and On, the soul-jazz instrumental The Colors in Your Mind, the mbira funk track Nile Drift, the gospel organ song 1986, and the detuned scuba diving adventure The Sunken Bicycle. Barack and Roll is a ripping classic blues song, while Navajo Tapestries is a more relaxing meditation. It's Your Birthday seems to be a deluxe edition in comparison the to the mostly keyboard and vocal songs complete with a slide whistle and ratchet, while Groove in Time seems like a theme song.
