about

Aether Songs were Rendina's last songs of the Obama era and his 20s, and his first record as a guitarist. They were written after an intermittent period having moved to Los Angeles. His reconsiderations, musically and otherwise can be heard on Twilight - a song about an era coming to an end, and into another more uncertain and uncomfortable. Twilight is based on the Bolero rhythm, but with an extra measure added. Waves of Woe captures the end of the party, with lyrical hocketing at the end, while Light and Dark is an operatic song with many vocal rounds about morning and evening. The World is a Mystery is a more lighthearted samba, and Aether Waves seems to be the most poppy on the record, about the collision of two black holes. Worlds of Light contains verses about Kabbalah, while Comes a Moment sounds more like Nick Drake. Light of the Soul seems to be a combination of country and No Wave. Sunrise and Sunset are a classic California intro and ending.
